1. BE VERSATILE
Facebook is a great way to interact with your clients and share new products and services. But using only Facebook in such a Social Media friendly world is not enough. What about those potential customers who use Twitter but not Facebook? You could be missing out on hundreds of customer conversions if you don’t reach out to them as well, not to mention Google Plus customers, those on LinkedIn, Pinterest and more.
A great way to address this is to have accounts on several Social Media platforms, at least all the most famous ones. This will open the door for new potential customers and help you advertise on more diverse platforms.
Worried that you won’t be able to keep track of it all? Don’t sweat it. If you’re running your own website, you can incorporate a sharing plugin that will help you post to several platforms all at once. This will keep you from having to make separate posts on each social media outlet, cutting down the time it takes to keep your users up to date. Learn more about sharing programs in the next section.

2. USE A SHARE PROGRAM
If you’re using a blog-style website such as WordPress, you have super easy access to a host of free plugins that support Social Media sharing for your website. A couple of the most famous Sharing plugins are Shareaholic and NextGEN Facebook (NGFB). Comment Luv is also a great plugin for sharing website content, though it is mostly used for posting links and trackbacks.
If you use Shareaholic, you’ll learn quickly that you have tons of options for keeping your Social Media up to date right through the program. What’s more, your users can also share your site’s content with their friends directly from your website page.
3. INTEGRATE SHARE BUTTONS
If you don’t want to use a plugin for your site, or if you want to cut down on the overall amount of effort it will take to make your website social media friendly, consider a simple share button. Facebook offers a simple share button option HERE. Twitter offers information about inserting a twitter feed into your own website HERE. Websta makes a decent Instagram feed tool HERE. Google discusses Google Plus Embedded Posts HERE. Learn more about building a Pinterest widget HERE. Shareaholic offers share buttons through their plugin. We recommend using them because the setup and maintenance is super easy and the benefit is excellent.
4. ENCOURAGE USERS TO FOLLOW YOU
One thing you will want to always do is encourage users to follow your social media pages. You can do this a number of ways, the easiest of which is by installing Follow or Like buttons on your website. The links to the various social media outlets above can help you achieve individual buttons to handle that issue.
Once again, we recommend Shareaholic. There is a built-in feature in Shareaholic that allows users to follow your page right after they have chosen to share your site’s content with their friends. There is no heavy coding involved and you have great flexibility over the design of the share and follow buttons. This amounts to digital word of mouth for your business, which turns in to conversions. Obviously, each time someone likes your page or follows your feed, your potential to sell to that person just became existent.
5. USE OUTSIDE LINKS
We don’t encourage internet trolling or comment spamming, but leaving a comment on someone’s website with a link taking their users back to your site is a great way to reach more people. Especially if their website content is similar to what you post about, this can be a big help for you. Make sure to say something nice about their Author and article you’re reading, then proceed to leave a link back to your website address. This will encourage new users to visit your site since you have something in common with them.
Consider using Comment Luv for this approach.
